Jenssen wakes up in a Borg Regeneration Alcove. She doesn't know how long it has been that she's been unconscience. Jenssen realizes time really doesn't matter now. Jenssen looks around trying to study the details of the chambers she's in. The space is rather typical of all Borg ships...full of scraps and bits and pieces of duranium, plasteel, and various other componets probably uncataloged. Jenssen wrinkles her nose, which is about the only thing she can move. She realizes the smell in the Cube isn't exactly "fresh"...sort of reminding her of an old locker room with a few dozen dirty socks stuffed in hot, muggy lockers.

'Damn, this place could use an air freshener,' she thinks to herself.

Suddenly tunnel vision sets in..the regeneration cycle has ended.

Personal Log of Burgundy Jenssen

Jenssen’s eyes pop open to the sound of a drone by her head. It made a minor adjustment to the alcove and moved off. Jenssen watched it move away. Once again she was standing in the Regeneration Alcove, alone in the erie, green glow, surrounded by the darkness within the Borg ship? Was it a ship she was on? She wasn’t really sure. Her eyes fell on a small screen and surprisingly she could read the Borg inscription language on the panels if she really concentrated. One was a external view screen the other panel in front of her on the dias was....was a Comm Link! Jenssen tried to move out of the alcove but her body wouldn’t respond. She really couldn’t feel anything from mid chest down other then her finger tips and toes. She looked around again.....how to access that Comm Link?

’Consentrate..Burgundy.....concentrate....you have all night to do this, and if you don’t get to tonight.....well, you will undoubtedly have tomorrow night if she doesn’t stop you.’ Jenssen chided herself.

Yet she got the feeling that her un-invited, alter ego would find her attempts to manipulate the ship feable and unworthy of her time for the moment.

Jenssen constentrated again on the controls.

Open channel......
Target sector.....
Set frequency......
Set encryption.....
Enter transponder code......
Uplink Comm port ....

A few lights blinked a slow steady green and white on the panelbut the comm system didn’t up link for her

‘Try it again...Focus!’ Jenssen breathed to calm her anger and frustration over something that normally would be so easy to do, so quick to type in with her fingers.

Target Sector.....
Set Frenquency.....
Select modeaudio only......

The panel started to light up in sequenceand Jenssen almost smiled at the tiny success

Enter private transponder code.....
Enter Encryption.....
Open channel.......
Uplink Comm port......

The Comm Panel lit up, alive with power and a small light blinked a steady
Ready.... Transmitting.....(chime)......pause..(chime)....

"Hello?... Who is this?" A man’s voice came over the Commlink clearly and Jenssen almost gasped at hearing his voice.

"Gavin! Gavin it’s me, Burgundy!" Jenssen almost shouted then realized where she was and restrained her voice, peering around to see if any of the drones would react. They didn’t.

"Who is this? If this is your idea of a joke, it is not at all funny." Gavin Renquest’s voice was haggard and angry at what he was sure was a prank.

"Gavin! No really it’s me.....did the Secretariat make it home ok? Are Gorp, Maven, Captain Rhoades, Lynx, Stelvok and T’Laurn’s children, the rest of the crew there, are they alright?" Jenssen smiled a little at just hearing the voice on the other end of the commlink.

"Burgundy? It has to be you....Only you would ask about them first, but how? You were assimilated. We saw it on the log buoy, the internal ship sensors? Can you upload a video link so I can verify it?" Gavin Renquest was trying to keep his composure on the other end of the link but Jenssen could hear almost joy in his voice at being able to talk to her. "Yes, the Secretariat arrived home without incident. Everyone is fine, but Stelvok has had some problems since..... then he knows T’Laurn is assimilated. Can you upload a video link?"

"Gavin, I have been assimilated, or rather, I am mostly assimilated. I can’t exactly open a video link right now.....I’m sort of a mess right now to look at, and I’m very much paralyzed. I don’t really want you to remember me like this." As Jenssen spoke, her voice cracked a little. "The Whirlaway, was it destroyed? Who did you find on board?"

"No Whirlaway wasn't destroyed. The ship was found a drift by Imperator | Ten Bears | MACO COMMAND. He towed her home to us. We found Tellis on the bridge, Baxer and Brahams in engineering, and Yar’Kal in the secondary sciences lab. They were all dead.....the rest of the crew? Are they with you?.. ..we saw Emily taken alive from the internal sensors out of engineering. She wasn’t assimilated when they grabbed her. Is she still ok? Dorran and Adams were assimilated in Main engineering, we saw that on sensors too."

"T’Laurn, Jrell, Larry Dorran,.... and Emily.... are all assimilated.....I watched Tellis die in front of me....I...I.. wasn’t sure about Adams." Tears welled up in Jenssen’s eyes as she called out Emily’s name and remembered Tellis falling to the deck in front of her. Jenssen tried to choke back the tears but failed.

"Gavin, she’s conducting some kind of experiment.... She's keeping my own individuality conscience long enough to figure out how to use it to assimilate the Human species. I don’t have full access to the Borg data banks or at least I haven’t figure that out yet. I don’t know how long I can talk." Jenssen tried to explain without saying too much.

"She? The Borg Queen is keeping you conscience? Is she there now?" Gavin asked with a real hint of concern to his voice.

"No, she’s regenerating now....I have consciousness only when she’s regenerating....but when she’s awake I can see what she does, but I can’t stop her. She made me assimilate Emily.....I couldn’t stop her." Jenssen replied choking back a snob.

There was a brief silence on the other end of the Comm link.....Jenssen hoped Gavin knew what that meant and she didn’t have to explain it more.

"Jenssen, there are others looking for you." Gavin tried to explain to her, give her hope. "We are going to bring you and the crew of the Whirlaway home."

"Gavin, don’t! Don’t tell me anything! She’ll know." Jenssen almost snapped at him. "Gavin, if I can, I’m going to try to take any advantage I can to send T’Laurn, Jrell, Larry Dorran, and Emily back to you. I want you to do what you can to release them from the collective. Espeically T’Laurn....I owe her so much and she needs to be with her children. Whatever you and Dr Nibbert can do, release them for me ....do everything you can to free them."

"We’re going to get you all, get you back here, safe and sound you’ll see!" Gavin tried to cheer her up a little.

"Gavin, you don't worry about me ok, get my crew out first." She chided him.

"Burgundy don’t you even think that way.....I know you too well, you hear me! Don’t do what I think you are going to do.....We’re going to bring you home too. You have to hang on!"

"Gavin, she’s using me to do her bidding....and I will stop her anyway I can....you know I will, if I have too, I'll take her down with me...you know I will." Jenssen replied quietly, tears streamed down her cheeks now.

"Burgundy!...Burgundy!" Gavin screamed at her.

Jenssen quickly closed the link. She couldn’t stand to listen to his voice anymore without completely breaking down into helpless sobs. That wouldn’t be good for either of them right now she quickly acknowledged. Gavin needed to hold strong for her Colony to survive. She had to stay strong to get her Whirlaway crew out of here.

She had to keep her mind about her now. To concentrate on how to use the systems in this ship or space port or complex to take advantage of any opportunity to get them rescued. She stared around at the constant buzzing and mechanical sounds of the cold, hard, space around her. She have to stand here endless nights, trapped with only what little she could teach herself to access by thought alone.

Jenssen longed to feel the grass of Sarabrande under her bare feet again. She wanted to hold Bears one more time, smell the cool fresh air of a living world under the warm sun as they talked the afternoon away. Instead, she was trapped like a bird in a cage in this half dead house of horrors. She was going to have to endure it until she could be freed, one way or another. At least this time, she wasn’t directly being tortured, she sighed.

Then she heard screams in her head. A Borg cube ship was assimilating the crew of a ship, a simple deuterium tanker that had wandering too close to it just outside Borg territory.....four members of the crew. Jenssen tried to stop it. She thought hard over and over, trying to get the drones to listen to her, but they ignored her, loyal only to their queen. It dawned on her now just how Byron Lance had felt watching her be tortured for information and her heart felt sick at the thought. This was far worse than being tortured herself. To watch helpless while others were assimilated one by one, knowing she was the one enabling because of her very own existence now. Once again, the only thing Jenssen could think of to do to stop the screaming in her head was to sing, as loud as she could until it was over.....

Don’t give into the pain...
Don’t try to hide....
Though they’re screaming your name...
Don’t close your eyes......
God knows what lies behind them...
Don’t turn out the light....
Never Sleep....never die,,

I’m frighten by what I see,
But somehow I know....that there’s more to much more to come.
Immobilized by my fear....
And soon to be.....blinded by tears.
I can stop the pain if I will it all away....if I will it all away....

Don’t turn away...."

Suddenly tunnel vision closed in around her.......darkness rushed in as the regeneration cycle ended...

Little ray of sunlight.....

From: Borg (8) info.gif send.gif settings.gifdel.gif add.gif no.gif Time: 24.04.2010 - 14:46

There was a constant, nagging, little chime sounding in the dark. Jenssen startled, trying to locate the sound. Her eyes fell on the commlink in front of her on the dias again. The comm panel light was signaling an incoming transmission.....an incoming transmission? The Borg didn't use commlinks for communication. It had to be someone from outside of the collective, or some stray message the system was picking up. Jenssen debated answering it. SHE would know who was talking to her, contacting her and it could be very very dangerous for who ever was on the other end of that signal just to answer it. Jenssen hoped they had scattered the comm to a wide ban frequency to help disguise their location.

Jenssen consentrated on the comm panel.
'Ok, you can do this....it's just a different control sequence then sending a message....' She thought to herself....

Open channel.....
Uplink receiver....
Scan frequency....
Capture encryption matrix....
Decompile.....

The receiver responded with a lime green light.....
Message received...audio only.....

A drone walked by, heading at a steady pace toward another alcove.
Jenssen held her breath...then almost laughed at herslef...

'Damn it, the drones would know anyway...she just hoped that SHE didn't find these converstations all that interesting or relevant....'

She willed the consol to play the message....

"Jenssen, are you there?" A voice came over the weak signal.
She recognized the voice, she thought, but it wasn't someone from her own colonies.

She willed the consol to return a message on the same carrier wave.

Jenssen replied quickly, "Yes, I'm here....who ever you are, please be careful, this is not a secure channel. It is being monitored by the Borg...but it is good to hear a freindly voice."

to be continued....

Jenssen smiled a little as she finally recognized the voice and put it with the name. She fully remembered Ben in all his glory. The last time she saw him, he was running out of Vic's Lounge with 15 of Admiral H. F. Mudd =Cmdr FCR fleet ops='s top security team after him. He had taken the liberty of a rather drunken dance on a front table in his birthday suit, much to her chagrin and Mudd's embarassment.

"Ben...I remember you well. Heard you had a little falling out with Admiral Mudd after that little table dance. Sorry to hear that. Hope he wasn't too hard on you. I found it quite funny actually considering what I had seen as a member of THE KLINGON EMPIRE at one time. As for where I am, well I really don't know where I am. I can't tell if it's a ship, or a base or a unimatrix or some kind of planetary compound. All Borg things look a lot alike from the inside. I can't exactly move around to explore this area either." Jenssen fell silent for a moment....

"Ben, I'm essentially paralyzed...I really have to try to figure out how to access the ships systems a little better to try to figure out where I am. It's not easy to do. SHE is always here. I haven't figured out any pattern to her regeneration cycles either...I think she keeps them random so no one can know when I'm able to talk. So I don't know when I can get any information like that to you or anyone else that might be able to help in some way. " Jenssen's voice was serious and quiet. " "I don't want to say or thing too much about that...SHE will know what I'm trying to do and I don't want her after you."

"As for my crew, those who were not killed have been assimilated too...My best friend T'Laurn, my Chief Engineer Larry Dorran, my Helmsman Jrell, Ensign Amelia Noble one of my warp specialists and E'mund Adams one of my Engineering Technicians were all assimilated. Most of them are here with me, in this place...what ever this place is."

"I'm going to try to find out where this is...If I can. I really want my crew and everyone else I can to be freed from this hell."

Jenssen fell quiet for a little bit...

"Thanks Ben, for making and effort to contact me...be safe...ok...It's good to have a little beam of sunlight once in a while when your in such a dark place. Jenssen out."

.... End Transmission ......

Message in a bottle....

Jenssen sees a small recorded message in the queue....she quickly notices who is is from as she closes the channel with Ben. Her heart almost skips a beat in joy. She quickly opens the message with a quick thought. It is getting easier and easier to manipulate the commlinks quickly without having to sit and concentrate on each step. Her eyes read the message quickly, devouring each word as if she had been starved...she quickly replied to it, text only.

Ambassador | D/\rk Solstice | MACO COMMAND the Clever. I miss you all so much. Please tell Bears I miss him and the thought of being able to see you all again keeps me strong. Be careful with your transmissions to me. SHE will eventually track them and no doubt want to use you against me to get me to comply. Bears will understand...I have been through this before and I will not let it happen if I can help it this time. Jenssen out.'

Jenssen quickly compiled the message and encrytped it and scattered the transmission to an generalized location around Maco Alliance space. The Borg already knew where that was because they had assimilated all her memories...but Jenssen wasn't going to lay down bread crumbs to anyone in particular if she could help it.

Jenssen's eyes snapped open in the alcove...she groaned...she was stiff from inactivity and realized it's been a few days since the Borg Queen had regenerated...her body was hurting from the abuse and lack of regeneration cycles. The Borg didn't eat, didn't need to. Jenssen craved a nice juicy, hot off the grill steak right now. Her immune system was longing for it, as were her taste buds right now. Her mind said her body needed nutrition, but damn the Borg didn't eat...Jenssen stared around at the ceiling and realized this was a little different alcove then the last one she was in and the Queen's dias in the middle of this room was a little smaller. Jenssen's eyes fell on the commlink display in front of her....a few small messages awaited in the buffer...at least SHE didn't see the need to delete them. She quickly read them all.

Jenssen quickly thought through the process to open a wide band frequency and directed the communications array towards Maco Alliance Space...she suddenly realized she needed to re-adjust the settings for the transmission. She had moved from her past position. She was on a ship now. But where? Jenssen was frantic to access the stellar cartography to figure out where she was. Jenssen located the stellar maps, but there were so many of them. Many more then what the Federation had and they were catalogued in a different way then she was used too. Oh this was going to take time to figure out her position. If only she had her hands to scan through the lists and charts quickly...Jenssen sighed...the only thing she could do now was to just try to warn those who were listening...

Adjust frequency, broad band...
Set transponder frequency...
Open subspace channel...

"SGT | Brough | MACO Academy, it is good to hear your voice. Please tell the Maco Alliance to be careful. SHE is up to something...something big.....don't provoke her. She has her eyes on a large target. The other things she does is just little stuff to disguise her real motives. Just don't get caught with your shields down. That's all I can tell you now...."

....End transmission....

Jenssen thought for a moment, how much more could she tell him without HER knowing? Jenssen decided that was all she would be able to say for now.

Suddenly Jenssen felt a tickle on her nose. She couldn't move to itch it.
'Damn! this is like torture to not be able to scratch you own nose.' Jenssen thought.

The little itch continued to grow...
